GL1800 LCD Display Adapter Timer

|
|
One thing I was disappointed with when I got my bike was the
fact that Honda didn't give us any flexibility when it came to the OEM LCD
display, and what it shows in the "default" mode. When I was unable to
find a way to re-program this, I decided to do something on my own.
This assembly will basically "push the 'Display' button" at the
interval set on the timer module. No more having to reach forward when the
back-seat passenger asks "I feel colder, what's the temperature now?" |

Timer module with input power wiring, ground jumper and output
signal wire attached. |
View of display button connector, with white signal wire
"injected" into connector. The plug is held onto a bracket in
front of the key assembly. I removed it for easier access, but
since we know which connector is needed, you shouldn't need to do
this. |
Close-up view showing connector, in place with white signal wire
in connector. The pin that controls the "Display" button is
the one in the lower-right hand position in this view. The
wire immediately above it is the 12V ground wire. |

There was enough room on the side of the plastic, just behind the
speaker and next to the fuel gauge. I installed double-sticky
tape on the back of the timer, and another piece (shown here in red)
on the edge of the metal speaker flange. |
Blurry picture showing the timer module stuck in place. The
module is pushed all the way forward against the gauge assembly and
will protrude slightly past the speaker flange. This does not
interfere with the installation of the gauge panel, though. |

extension past the speaker flange.. |
